2026 NCK Medical Center Volunteer Officers Installed

Published Feb. 16, 2026

Officers for NCK Medical Center Volunteers for 2026 were installed at their January meeting held in the conference rooms of the hospital. Pam Campbell, DVS conducted the installation ceremony around the theme of angels. The state Hospital Volunteers of Kansas President has selected the theme “Volunteers are Angels in Disguise” for the next two years.

Kathy Kadavy was installed as President of NCKMC Volunteers. She will be the leader of the Volunteers, and she received an archangel, the chief or leader among angels.

Mary Jane Hurley is the new Vice President and she received an angel symbolic of Saint Michael, one of the most powerful angels.

Marie Cairns was installed as Secretary. Her job requires keeping accurate and complete records of the procedures of all meetings. Marie received an angel representing Raphael, the angel with the power of healing. Keeping accurate records prevents misunderstandings and provides healing for all members.

Janet Istas was installed as Treasurer. She received a patron saint angel, symbolic of the duties to protect, especially to protect the funds of the Volunteers.

All attending members pledged to be a “host of angels” in support of the officers and the organization.

Every year the Volunteers, formerly CCHC Auxiliary, raise funds to assist in purchasing needed equipment for the hospital. In 2025 they donated funds to purchase special equipment for speech therapy, and family “Care” bags for families whose patient is being transferred out. Other activities last year included scholarships for students entering a healthcare field of study, serving a meal for the community Red Cross Bloodmobile, Collective Goods sale, linen sale fundraiser, bake sale at Fall Fest, and breakfast at the Health Fair in October. The Gift Shop at the hospital is operated by the Volunteers. Located in the Main Hall of NCK Medical Center, the Gift Shop is managed by Janet Istas, and she encourages patients and visitors to come in and see what’s new.

NCK Medical Center Volunteers is open to all men and women who wish to support the hospital. Meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at noon. Membership dues are just $5 and may be given to any of the officers, or by calling the hospital at 243-1234.
