Accommodations

Welcome to North Central Kansas Medical Center

We want to welcome you and your family as our guests to our brand new location. We hope you enjoy our new 14 bed facility as much as we enjoyed designing it for patients just like you. Our large private rooms each have a private bathroom with walk-in shower. All rooms will have a sleeper sofa or a sleeper recliner to accommodate an overnight or sleepy visitor. Centrally located is our nurses station, providing 24 hour attention and care. Our goal is to provide you with the best care and accommodations in North Central Kansas. If there is something we can do to make your stay more comfortable, do not hesitate to ask.

Personal items

Remember, we want you to be as comfortable as possible while you are a guest here. We will be happy to supply you with sufficient bed clothing for your stay; however, you may find it more comfortable to bring your own pajamas and a bathrobe. You may also want to bring some personal items with you such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, slippers, shaving equipment, etc. Any electrical items such as hair dryers or electric razors will need to be safety checked before being allowed in your room for the safety of all our patients and guests.

We urge you not to bring valuables with you to the hospital. NCKMed cannot assume responsibility for large amounts of cash, expensive jewelry or other valuables kept in patient rooms. Such items may be checked into safekeeping upon your admission if you wish. On the day of your dismissal we encourage you to pick up your valuables before 4:30 p.m.

When not in use, fragile items such as dentures or eyeglasses should be kept in a protective container and labeled appropriately to prevent them from getting misplaced or broken.

Television

All adult patient rooms are equipped with television sets which have remote control and pillow speakers.

All television sets are served by cable television. A TV guide is located in your Patient Handbook that you receive when you check in.

Nutrition – Room Service

While you are a patient at North Central Kansas Medical Center, you will be provided with a menu for the day, inclusive of options for the main entrée, salad, deli sandwich, and desert. A traditional breakfast menu is still offered in the morning.

If a patient or family member has not called to place an order, food service personnel will either call you on the phone or come to your room to visit with you about your meal selection.

The Health Center's dietitians work closely with your doctor in the areas of diet therapy and nutrition. Should you have any questions about your diet, a dietitian will be glad to visit with you about any problems or modifications.

If your physician prescribes a special diet to be continued after your dismissal, instructions in meal preparations and management will be provided before you leave the hospital.

Smoking/Vaping

North Central Kansas Medical Center is a non-smoking public facility, in accordance with state law. Patients and visitors are asked not to smoke or vape in the hospital or on hospital grounds.
